Jamin Olivencia From OVW Promotion

Lee Sanders of The RCWR Show conducted an interview with current OVW Heavyweight Champion, Jamin Olivencia. The hot topic discussed was Jamin’s recent challenge to TNA star Kurt Angle. Check out part of the conversation below:

Lee: Well alright, let’s do it! So I’ve gotta ask you Jamin Olivencia, what is going on with you and Kurt Angle? Just to get some of you caught up to speed, you shot a video a couple weeks ago challenging the 2nd inductee of this year’s TNA HOF and I was like hmmmmmm, interesting! Could you tell the folks what led you to issuing this challenge to Kurt Angle? Was this a decision that was pretty easy for you to make overnight or did a lot of time get put into your selection of Kurt?

Jamin Olivencia: You know Lee, I said this in the video but I’ma say it right now. I will go on record and say right now once again I respect Kurt Angle. He’s an Olympic Gold Medalist, a double, Triple Crown champion. I mean everywhere Kurt Angle has gone he has won. You know you gotta take a guy like him at his level and consider him to be the best because he is the best. He’s the best ever regardless of whatever anyone wants to say.

Kurt Angle right now is at the top of the mountain and he’s always been there. Right now where I come into play is Jamin Olivencia is at the top of the mountain too. Jamin Olivencia right now is the hottest star that’s a free agent out there. What better way to make my name and an impact, put my mark on the wrestling world than beating Kurt Angle? Here’s the truth Lee, you put me in a situation against Kurt Angle…I’m going to beat him and there’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Lee: Okay, Okay, I can respect that. When I hear the name Kurt Angle though…Kurt Angle, 2x NCAA Division Champion, 4x WWE Champion, fifth Grand Slam champion in the company’s history, 5x TNA World Heavyweight Champion. You think about some of the greatest Kurt Angle matches of all time. For me Angle vs Brock Lesnar at WM 19, Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit at Royal Rumble 2003, against HBK at WM 21, Six Sides of Steel at Lockdown 2008 against Samoa Joe.

I would imagine there’s excitement at the idea of getting into the ring with a true wrestling machine but what about fear? Fear in the sense of this would be a true defining moment for you, your career as to come up without a victory would be detrimental short term wise but I’d only imagine would feel like an eternity.

Jamin Olivencia: Well let’s go ahead and discuss fear real fast. You know, fear is nothing but an insecurity. It’s nothing but something that’s made up by the mind. Something that you tell yourself continuously. When it comes to Kurt Angle I don’t have any fear. Obviously I have no problem addressing the issue. There’s a lot more to me and Kurt Angle than what I’ve said so far. In the upcoming weeks the whole entire world is going to find out what I’m talking about so as far as Kurt Angle goes, his credentials speak for themselves. The guy is the best, he’s the best!

When think of a guy like Kurt Angle and you put him up against the hottest star you gotta ask yourself what is this and how could it happen, when will it happen? The answer is soon. It’s going to be awesome, it’s going to be amazing, it’s going to be life-changing and that’s what I’m all about. Lee, honestly I’m making my mark in this business and that’s what it boils down to. Making your mark and leaving your impression, and right now that’s what I’m getting ready to do as everyone is going to bear witness to that.

Lee: Just how far are you willing to take this? Would you be willing to put the OVW title on the line?

Jamin Olivencia: I don’t think it’s about titles because I don’t think it has anything to do with that. Look, I put my title on the line no matter what. I don’t have a problem putting my championship on the line at any time. When it comes to Kurt it’s not about championships. I think it’s about pure competition. I think this is something that the people really want to see right now. I think it’s something really good and exciting for this business to actually witness as we’re going to make history.

Lee: So win and your name will be in conversations that include Shawn Michaels, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Kurt Angle, etc. No doubt you set a high bar for yourself that no one could probably ever touch at least in this century. Lose and you have to deal with looking at yourself in the mirror the morning after going what’s next. Are you ready for either outcome?

Jamin Olivencia: Yes. The answer is yes. There’s never been a time when I probably wasn’t ready. I know I’m mentally ready and physically ready at this point. Right now I can look anything in the face and not be afraid to know it down. That’s the difference between me and other people. That’s why I’m the OVW champion. That’s why I’m on a list of guys who’ve been the OVW champion and been most successful in this industry. That’s what I’m a part of, as the world has not really bore witness. I can’t tell you what I’m going to do to Kurt Angle but I can show you. That’s the thing with me, Lee. I walk and talk at all times. Am I ready? Absolutely! I’m laughing right now as that’s how excited I am inside and that’s how serious I am.

Lee: I’m curious, did you watch Kurt Angle vs Bobby Roode at last Sunday’s Bound For Glory?

Jamin Olivencia: I caught a little glimpse of it.

Lee: Not only did this man reject the HOF induction but he also lost his 1st match back with the promotion to Roode. I think as far as the mind games you’ve got the edge right now as you just might be in his head, what do you think?

Jamin Olivencia: I know I’m in Kurt’s head. (laughs) Listen, Kurt knows who I am and he knows about me. Like I stated earlier, it’s a situation right now where more information will come out in time. Right now it’s just not time yet but I can guarantee in the next week or so it will be time to reveal more information about me and Kurt. I think it’s something that’s going to get a lot of interest. Just stay tuned to that. Now as far as Kurt losing his first match back, tough loss. That’s the thing about Kurt Angle that I know, he’s not going to stay down. He’s an Olympic Gold Medalist. He’s a guy that’s going to get back up and continue to work hard. That doesn’t make a difference to me as I don’t underestimate him. You can’t underestimate anybody, I don’t care who you are.

Lee: We did try to contact Kurt through his people and directly on social media about your appearance here tonight and extended an invitation to join us but far as we know it’s quietly been declined. We know we have a few folks and associates in TNA who may be listening to this and will forward it to Angle but just in case he’s listening right now, is there anything you’d like to say to him? If so, the floor is yours, take as much time as you’d like.

Jamin Olivencia: First off, Kurt, you know who I am and what I’m about so let’s not pretend that you don’t know. Let’s not pretend that you don’t hear me right now because Jamin Olivencia is the star right now who’s going to go into TNA IMPACT WRESTLING and make an IMPACT! Why? Because that’s who I am and that’s what I do at any given moment. So Kurt here’s what I gotta say to you…good luck because when you’re across from me in the ring and I beat you, then I’m going to go ahead and make my mark, and you’re going to go ahead and shake my hand and say this kid really did it, this kid is really special. That’s what we’re going to be creating as we speak.

Special thanks to Jamin Olivencia for appearing on the show.
